When my daughter was born in 2004 I purchased a regular crib at the local super center. It was just a pine color crib, made by Graco, and it was not expensive. I purchased the matching 5 drawer dresser to go with it. At the same time I also purchased a small rocking chair with small ottoman. This chair was also quite inexpensive, costing us around $100.00 at the time. You definitely need a rocker when you have a newborn, for feeding, etc. When my daughter turned 3 I decided it was time to buy her a “big girl” bed. source
