Fabric Squares

February 27th 2010 in General

Fabric Squares My kitchen needed a face lift. Beige walls were dreary and boring to look at. Last weekend, I had the crazy idea to paint it teal with one red wall. About halfway into trimming, I turned to my husband and told him I absolutely hated it. He told me to finish painting, and if we still hated it we could always get a new paint color. Okay, here is some fun.
First there are a ton of pink and green accessories out there for girls so make sure you add a few of those into your room.
Here is a new idea… Do you know what harlequin pattern is?
It is diamonds that are stacked on top of each other. Why don’t you paint one wall in a Harlequin pattern. Have an adult help you with this. Paint your base coat and then tape off the diamonds. Mark the diamonds you don’t want to paint with a small piece of tape. do every other in a row horizontal. Or paint everyone in a row vertical. Which ever is easier.
Now, you can paint it in a lot of ways.
1. two pink hues. One very pale, and one 2 hues darker.
2. two pink hues. more on the brighter scale.
3. one pale pink, and one minty green. In the center of each connecting harlequin you could add one more splash of color by painting a small polka dot in gold metallic paint.(or any color you want.) I would only do ONE wall in this design pattern. The other walls should be in the lighter shade of pink, or very pale green. And so on, your color choices and pattern is up to you…. Good luck and enjoy.
