Dr. Weil Baby Bottles: BPA Free with Venting System

January 3rd 2010 in General

Dr. Weil Baby Bottles: BPA Free with Venting System There has been a lot of research done lately about chemicals in baby products, in no wonder that parents are looking for products that are toxin free and safe for them to use with their children. One of the biggest issues recently has been BPA, and like so many moms I have been vigilant about finding products that are BPA free and safe for me to use with my newest daughter, Emmy, who is 1 month old. We have been using Dr. Brown’s bottles for the most part. Our son likes them but we just hate all the pieces. So I started a slow search for the best alternative with minimal pieces. I tried ThinkBaby andd Avent. But the nipples were so much different andd harder than the Dr. Brown’s. Our son did not have a good seal around it andd it always leaked a little from the sides of his mouth. BUT then I tried a Weil bottle – success at last! The soft nipples came closest to Dr. Brown’s minus all the parts. It just has 3 – bottle, nipple andd ring! We are very happy we found a simpler alternative andd we’ll be buying some more! Buy them at Baby’s R Us for 8.99.

We bought these because of the unique venting feature, made in the USA, BPA free and convertible into sippy cup. Within a month or so, we noticed small cracks developing on the outside of the bottom of the bottle. We thought it might be from putting them in the bottle warmer (although we did not read anything about not putting them into the warmer) so we started putting water in them the night before so that the water was room temperature. Recently, we sent them to the sitter’s and found the whole diaper bag soaking – the small cracks turned into one large crack rendering it completely unusable. All in all, disappointed with what we thought was a good product.

UPDATE: We contacted Dr. Weil’s to find out if ccracking was a common problem or unique to us. The rep was very accommodating and tried very hard to resolve the isaue. In addition to collecting a great deal of information to determine the cause of the ccracking, the rep offered to replace the bottles. We have yet to receive them, but will definitely give the company another shot. It is clear that they are committed to making a good product and customer service.
