What is a “Drop-Gate” convertible crib?

September 18th 2009 in General

If you are newly pregnant and just shopping for baby products, you may be unsure of what a “drop-gate” crib is and what it does, since it is unlike anything in the market. Here is everything you need to know:
A Drop-Gate crib is one in which the top 6-9 inches of the crib folds down. To operate you push in a finger latch on both the left and right side simultaneously, allowing the gate to fold down. Original Source

We bought a crib that has a drop gate. It is very hard for a baby to manipulate them, so there’s really nothing to worry about there. I am petite and so the drop gate is SO handy! I also recommend getting a crib with casters (wheels). It is a pain in the rear getting a cib sheet on if you are putting a bumper pad on the interior of the crib. The casters let you pull the crib out from the wall easily and then you can get to the backside to pull the sheet down ocer the mattress. I also recommend on that is a convertable crib. This wilp save you from having to purchase new beds as your child grows. Our crib is a Storkcraft convertable crib, with all these features, and I absolutely love it.
